M1
The M1 rating indicates that building materials meet the most stringent emissions classifications for indoor air quality. When developing Kiilto building supplies, our goal is always to achieve an M1 rating, which we have already gained in 70% of cases. A growing number of our industrial products are also being classed as M1.
CE
Waterproofing products are given a CE marking valid throughout the EU, once tested as a system and given European Technical Approval (ETA). Kiilto’s Kerafiber waterproofing system was the first of its kind to receive a CE marking. Flexible cementitious adhesives were the first Kiilto products to receive a CE marking, which was granted in 2004. This marking has been awarded to almost all Kiilto plasters and compounds.
LEED
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is an American certification programme for green properties that aims to reduce the environmental impact of construction and building use. All solvent-free products made by the Kiilto construction product department fulfil the LEED certification criteria.
Approval for use in food packaging
Adhesives that bear this mark meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, GMP regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practices, the Food Act 23/2006 and the plastic regulation (EU) 10/2011.
VTT
VTT certification confirms that a product or product system fulfills Finnish building regulations and standards when used in accordance with the certificate instructions.
NSF
The NSF Mark is granted by NSF International for products with raw materials that can be used in contact with foodstuffs. Kiilto’s certified products are listed in the NSF White Book.
Wheel mark
Adhesives bearing the ‘Wheel Mark’ meet the fire safety requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). IMO recommendations are included in the EU Marine Equipment Directive (MED). The Wheel Mark on marine equipment and materials indicates compliance with the MED.
RMRS
Adhesives bearing the ‘Russian Maritime Register of Shipping’ mark meet the fire safety requirements of the Russian maritime organisation.
Made in Finland – Key Flag
The ‘Key Flag’ mark of origin indicates that a product or service originates in Finland. Kiilto was granted the ‘Key Flag’ for its domestic production in June 2011, due to its use of Finnish work and expertise. Kiilto Oy makes adhesives, waterproofing products, plasters, levelling compounds and lacquers in its own production facilities in Lempäälä.
Can be used in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled buildings
The mark indicates that a product has been approved for use in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled buildings. Such products are listed in the Nordic Ecolabel Building Materials Database. In the case of detached houses, apartment buildings and daycare centres, the requirements cover the construction phase, materials and energy consumption. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel’s requirements also apply to the energy efficiency of buildings, good indoor air and the building materials used in a building.
